June 5, 2014 – The Penguin Project of McLean County presents the “Little Mermaid, Jr.” on Friday, June 6 and Saturday, June 7 at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, June 8 at 2:00 p.m. at the University High School Stroud Auditorium, 500 Gregory St., Normal.

The Penguin Project, a program that allows children with disabilities to participate in community theater, originated in Peoria. Next weekend, the McLean County chapter with present the classic musical Peter Pan. I’ll talk with artistic director Tricia Stiller on the Monday edition of “Live and Local.” We’ll also hear about Saturday’s concert of space-inspired music by the Urbana Pops Orchestra.

The Penguin Project of McLean County is debuting it's production of Beauty and the Beast, Jr.

The project gives kids with disabilities the chance to perform and to shine. Seventy-eight kids participated in this years show.  They're working towards a bigger and better production.
